Ali Jacko returns with 'Somebody to Love'
Having retired from the world of Martial Arts, five times kickboxing world champion Ali Jacko was looking for a new challenge. He decided to follow his lifelong dream of being a musician and start a challenging project to release a new single every month of 2018 until November. July saw the release of ‘Somebody to Love’, a playful and Jazzy track that shows a lighter side to this champion fighter. The track is ironically witty, with smart lyrics that document Ali’s (previous) un-luck in love.
Born to Bangladeshi parents in London’s Bethnal Green, Ali Jacko – ‘You can call me Jacko or Ali, just call me’ – began by following in his tailor father’s footsteps, working in fashion and designing for everyone from River Island to Hugo Boss. But a chance encounter with the legendary Muhammad Ali when he was a child meant there was always a part of Jacko’s brain that was a fighter. Again, both literally and metaphorically.
Having retired from Kickboxing, Ali has now thrown himself head first into the music industry with his ambitious calendar of releases. So what’s next for this champion fighter turned soulful singer? Well, with the rest of this year’s singles to be released in the subsequent months, and an album of all eleven songs being released next year (alongside additional bonus tracks), things don’t seem to be slowing down for this musical enigma.
